Invitation to the “Urban Knowledge Hubs” Conference, June 11–12, 2025, Copenhagen

In 2023, Bibliotheca Baltica joined as an associated organization in the EU Interreg Baltic Sea Region programme “Urban Knowledge Hubs” project, which focuses on enhancing digital literacy by designing innovative services and hybrid spaces where people can learn, interact, and exchange reliable information.

The “Baltic-UKH” project team—comprising The Royal Danish Library, the Hamburg State and University Library, the National Library of Latvia, and OsloMet University—cordially invites you to the “Urban Knowledge Hubs” Conference in Copenhagen on June 11–12, 2025.

This two-day event will feature presentations of co-creative results from local projects in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Riga, and Hamburg, along with talks, roundtables, and keynote speakers. We also invite participants to submit abstracts and presentations to be included in the conference. Additionally, the project partners will share insights on innovative study spaces and services at universities and libraries. The main goal is to present our final output: a methodological toolbox for the participatory design of innovative spaces and services. This toolbox is not only relevant to libraries but also to other educational institutions and authorities, as libraries and public institutions continue to adapt to the evolving digital landscape.

In today’s digital age, information is primarily shared online. The internet, as an information superhighway, brings both opportunities and challenges to the flow of information. As a result, libraries and public institutions are embracing innovative approaches to better serve their communities. Libraries at all levels are engaging in democratic co-creative projects to improve their spaces and services. We hope that the toolbox will be a valuable asset in this participatory process, and we look forward to receiving your contributions and success stories that you would like to share with the international community from the Baltic Sea Region.

Participation is free of charge, but spaces are limited, so early registration is encouraged.
