The 14th International Bibliotheca Baltica Symposium, titled “Digital Crossroads – New Technologies for Libraries and Archives”, will take place in Rostock, Germany, from 4-5 October 2018.
This year’s Symposium will bring together researchers working on information technology for heritage materials and professionals from the library, archive and museum communities of the Baltic region to discuss cutting-edge approaches to digitizing cultural heritage.
Papers will be presented from the field of theoretical and applied Digital Cultural Heritage; including metadata creation, linked data, multilingual access, crowd sourcing, automated text, layout and image recognition, digital editions, digital preservation, text and data mining as well as the international aggregation of source materials.
Automated text and layout recognition of printed and handwritten documents will be the subject of a joint track with the second Transkribus User Conference, which will branch out of the symposium on October 5th.
